Barre Pilates uses a combination of postures inspired by ballet and other disciplines like Yoga and Pilates. The Barre is used as a prop to balance whilst doing exercises that focus on isometric strength training, which means holding your body and at the same time contracting a specific set of muscles. We combine small range-of-motion targeted movements with high reps to achieve the desired result. The class will incorporate light handheld weights and pilates balls to increase ‘the burn,’ and mats for targeted core work. The small controlled movements in a Barre class will reduce pressure on your joints, tendons, ligaments and spine while improving your core strength and posture.
